When you've dealt with pain long enough, you just miss walking into the gym without thinking about your body.
Now, before you even touch a weight, you're already questioning what you can do. You stand at the bar a little longer than you used to.
"I can't lift like this anymore."
"Maybe I'm getting too old for this."
You start telling yourself these things, and after a while you start believing them. Even on a walk, part of you is still checking in on the pain.
That's what chronic pain does.
It convinces you the goals you had aren't worth chasing anymore. And it does it in your own voice, so it never sounds like pain talking. It sounds like you being realistic.
Sometimes the first step forward is realizing that's not even you speaking.
You can still work toward the training you miss, even if it looks different right now.
Hope you're moving well and brewing better. ☕
